COUNSELOR (LCSW or Psychologist) - Troy, New York

The Division of Student Life at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks qualified candidates for a Counselor/Social Worker position in the Student Counseling Center.
The Counselor will work full time each academic year (10 months per year) in the Counseling Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The Counselor will be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Psychologist, and is expected to facilitate the normal developmental process for Rensselaer students, as well as to assist students whose normal developmental process is impeded by adjustment problems and/or other disorders.

These dual goals are to be achieved by working with students individually and in groups, as well as proactively working with the Rensselaer Community to create an environment that will allow students to maximize their personal growth.

Outreach is a major component of this position.

Job Requirements


Minimum qualifications for Counselor/Social Worker are
* Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field required.
* Five (5) years of professional experience, preferably with young adult/adolescent populations
* Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required
* Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification will be considered.

Mental Health Therapist

Evaluates and assesses the bio-psycho-social needs of patients.

Assists in determining the most appropriate level of care for the patient, and makes appropriate referrals when indicated.

Demonstrates an understanding of the most current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM)

Conducts a risk assessment as part of every initial assessment/evaluation.

THERAPIST - Boynton Beach, Florida

The Therapist is responsible for coordinating and providing case management, group therapy and bio-psychosocial assessment services to patients as well as group, individual and family counseling for patients within the facility. He/she demonstrates expertise in case management, development of patient resources, vocational counseling, discharge/continuing care planning, and placement of patients. He/she works with the treatment team to plan and coordinate the patient's movement through the continuum of care.

  • Salary: $80-90k Package
  • Location: Wooroloo - 1 hour outside of Perth
  • Male Medium Security Prison
Our client employs approximately 100,000 people across more than 600 contracts in 35 countries including Asia Pacific, UK, Europe, Middle East & North America and has more than 40 years experience delivering public services to millions of people across the globe.

They are looking for a Registered Psychologist to join their team at a medium security Prison, located one hour outside of Perth.


The Role

This role will play a critical part in the rehabilitation of Prisoners, through specialised assessment and intervention/counselling services in order to address the risks and needs of prisoners ongoing needs and successful reintegration into the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitation of the drug and alcohol programs
  • Liaise with custodial and other program delivery staff regarding the case management of individual prisoners.
  • Complete assessments for prisoners at-risk of suicide and/or self-harm.
  • Provide individual counselling to prisoners
  • Complete individual case notation using the current electronic recording systems. Engage in professional development activities
  • Liaise with external agencies and Resettlement Team to coordinate welfare-related services and community support, including drug and alcohol services
  • Participate in regular team meetings
  • Complete other duties as directed by the Senior Psychologist/Manager
  • Administrative tasks, facilitation and data maintenance
Required for this role:
  • Completion of a Degree Qualification in Psychology (Forensic, Clinical or Counselling).
  • 3-4 years experience a Psychologist or Social Worker.
  • Eligibility for registration with the W.A. Board of Psychologists.
  • Experience of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
  • Group counselling experience, ideally within criminology
  • A commitment and motivation to deliver quality intervention and program services to prisoners.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the social and clinical variables associated with major offence categories (e.g. sexual offending; violent offending).
  • An ability to work within psychological services and programs, preferably within a correctional, welfare or other institutional setting.
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills; reports, submissions; and the ability to negotiate and interact effectively with a wide range of community, specialist and management groups.
